28879-01 - Lecture: Programming in STATA 1 CP

Semester spring semester 2024
Course frequency Every spring sem.
Lecturers Jan Hattendorf (jan.hattendorf@unibas.ch, Assessor)
Content Note: Participants are expected to bring their own laptops with Stata installed.
Stata has a simple and intuitive structured programming language. With an understanding of basic programming concepts – like looping, branching and macro variables – Stata becomes a very flexible and powerful application. Programming skills are useful for batch processing. Tasks and exercises reflect situations encountered in real life with a focus on epidemiology and biomedical science.
Learning objectives To use STATA more efficiently; to have the ability to write own STATA commands; to understand the concepts of loops and macros to automate repetitive tasks.
Comments Participants need an own laptop with Stata version 13 or higher installed. This advanced course assumes that the participants have used Stata before (28893-01 Biostatistics or equivalent knowledge).
Methods: Lectures and practical sessions
lecture starts in the 2nd half of the semester.
