70470-01 - Lecture: Genetic Approaches in Biomedical Research 1 CP

Semester spring semester 2024
Course frequency Once only
Lecturers Nicolau Beckmann (nicolau.beckmann@novartis.com)
Birgit Ledermann (birgit.ledermann@novartis.com)
Raija L.P. Lindberg Gasser (raija.lindberg@unibas.ch, Assessor)
Pawel Pelczar (pawel.pelczar@unibas.ch)
Content Lectures are introducing new technologies to study the pathophysiology of human diseases. Genetic approaches include several animal models, organoids and "state of the art" molecular biological techniques, e.g. next generation sequencing techniques, single cell analysis etc.
Learning objectives The aim of the lecture series is to get more insights into the applications of modern molecular biological techniques to understand human disease pathophysiology and how these techniques can be used to develop new treatment modalities for human diseases. The lectures are introducing, how these techniques have already been applied in pharma industry to specific diseases.
Comments Most of the lectures will be "in person" only (no zoom option). The lectures, where the speaker cannot be in Basel on the day of the lecture, will be organized via zoom.
